Machinery & Machine Guarding

Program Overview

Employee exposure to unguarded or inadequately guarded machines is prevalent in many workplaces. Consequently, workers who operate and maintain machinery suffer from amputations, lacerations, crushing injuries, and abrasions each per year.  The Machinery and Machine Guarding Program establishes minimum safety requirements for machinery and machine guarding at Emory and is intended to assure that equipment or machines are operated safely and meet the machine guarding requirements established by OSHA.
