If you work with human cells, cell lines, blood, tissues, cell cultures, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, or anticipate exposure to those materials (Bloodborne Pathogens or BBP).

Course Frequency: Must be completed annually.

If you perform job duties in a laboratory or may have the potential to be exposed to human blood or body fluids but are not a researcher. Contact the trainer to schedule a classroom session of this training.

Course Frequency: Must be completed annually.

Biosafety 240120

If you are assigned to work with, or in the vicinity of, potentially infectious or otherwise hazardous materials deriving from plant, animal or human sources - including infectious agents, toxins, an recombinant/synthetic nucleic acid molecules.

Course Frequency: Must be completed every 3 years.

Shipping of Biological and Infectious Materials 240220

If you ship infectious agents, biological materials and/or dry ice. This training is available in a classroom setting once every other month. 

NEW: Shipping Training Registration will be carried out through the Emory Learning Management System (ELMS). To enroll:

  1. Go to: https://elmprod.emory.edu/Individuals must enroll into the course (code 240220) no later than 10 days before the training date. The financial information (Smart Key) must be provided at the time of enrollment. The cost for registration is $100.00.
  2. The manager/supervisor must approve the individual’s request for enrollment. If working with human source materials (blood, body fluids, cells, tissues, cell lines), EHSO will verify that the individual has completed BBP Training (code 240100) and Hepatitis B Vaccination (three doses plus titers for HBSAB) before approval of the Shipping registration.
  3. After all information is verified, each individual will receive an email confirmation from EHSO stating that registration is complete.
  4. If Training and Vaccination cannot be verified, you will be dropped from the class.
  5. A $30.00 cancellation fee is charged to your department if a cancellation notice is not received within 5 days of the class. You can drop your enrollment in ELMS. For instructions go to: http://www.emory.edu/elms-training/learner/Dropping-Enrollment-Activity.html.

Powered Industrial Truck (pre-requisite for Module 2) 242220

This training must be completed by all Emory University employees, including faculty, staff, and student employees who are designated by their departments to operate, repair, or maintain powered industrial trucks. This includes: fork trucks, tractors, platform lift trucks, motorized hand trucks, and other specialized industrial trucks powered by electric motors or internal combustion engines.
